Dr. Mohammad Karami

ABOUT ME

I am Asst. Prof. Mohammad Karami, a faculty member of the Business Administration department, at Near East University, Cyprus. I have been working in the field of marketing management in the personal service sectors; particularly, in the beauty and cosmetics industry. My primary research interest has focused on consumer Psychology, relationship sustainability, behavioral intention, service quality, advertising, and customer satisfaction.

The genesis of my intense interest in education and teaching occurred during my childhood, when I ran away from kindergarten and used to accompany my parents to the school in the village where they taught for many years. During this period, I had this chance to discover my interest and see my dream to be a teacher. I have the confidence to confess that nothing can polish my soul better than teaching and I strongly believe that teaching is better to be performed with the philosophy that “we are teaching our children’s future teachers (Mohammad Karami)”. Teaching has always been a passion of mine, and I have had the privilege of instructing a variety of marketing courses during my doctoral studies. I have taught undergraduate level courses such as [Marketing Communications, Marketing Research, Marketing and Society, Psychological Aspects of Marketing], and graduate level such as [Marketing Management], where I focused on integrating theoretical concepts with real-world applications to engage students actively. My teaching philosophy emphasizes experiential learning, critical thinking, and fostering a diverse and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel empowered to contribute.

I became interested in hairdressing and beauty when as a child I used to go with my mother to the hair salon frequently. Based on my deep interest, in all phases of my life, I have tried to follow my dream of being a professional hairdresser and researcher in the ocean of beauty. In this line, I have fastened my belt to elevate myself in both academia and practice sides by improving and strengthening my skills. My strong desire in this research field has led me to publish several articles in internationally indexed journals and encouraged me to carry out my Ph.D. dissertation with a focus on studying customer behavior in the beauty industry. I am interested in professionally pursuing my research in the beauty and cosmetics area by exploring and analyzing customer behavior in the beauty/cosmetics market and branding as well.

I have published several articles in international academic journals, such as Behavioral Science, Journal of Business Economics and Finance, Journal of Management Marketing and Logistics, International Journal of Management, Accounting & Economics, and Research Journal of Business and Management. Mohammad is currently expanding his research by working on the theory of planned behavior (TPB), social exchange theory (SET), service quality scale, relational benefits, and relationship marketing (RM). I am eager for any international collaboration in service industry studies.
